10. Jabba the Hut – Ann Hale
Why I Ranked the Character so High: I grew up with two older brothers and a brother in law who loved Star Wars. Needless to say, I have watched the films quite a bit, especially now that I have a nephew who is just as obsessed.
As a young girl, I didn’t really care a whole lot about a bunch of guys with light sabers so I focused more on the various alien creatures, one of my favorites being Jabba the Hutt. He was a big, fat, disgusting slob of a creature who spoke in gibberish so, naturally, I found him hilarious.
Favorite Line: When Jabba captures Princess Leia in Return of the Jedi, she says “We have powerful friends, you are going to regret this!” His response is simply and securely “I’m sure.” I have always loved how sure he is that he will win. With those two words, we see just how important Jabba thinks he is that he can just kidnap a Princess and get away with it. Jabba is the Kanye of the Star Wars galaxy.
Quintessential Saga Moment: As an adult, I have a difference appreciation for Jabba. I still think he is funny but the guy is responsible for one of the most recognized and iconic scenes in the trilogy. Yes, I am speaking of the Princess Leia slave scene from Return of the Jedi. That tiny bikini paired with the collar and chain leash is enough to keep every teenage boy thanking Jabba for a lifetime.
