Hell has officially frozen over.
Guns N’ Roses, the real Guns N’ Roses, will reunite for 2016 installment of the Coachella Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California, set for April 15-17 and April 22-24.
According to an article on Billboard.com, there are also rumors that the original line-up is negotiations with promoters to perform at various football stadiums across the U.S. There’s also word GNR will play the new Las Vegas Arena in early April.
The last time Guns performed, with both Axl Rose and Slash on the same stage together was in 1993 in Buenos Aires. Axl has sporadically toured with variations of Guns over the past two decades and released one original record, Chinese Democracy.
The reunion is completely unexpected, but it should come to no surprise that Coachella would be the place where it takes place. The revered multi-weekend festival has seen the reunion of acts ranging from Rage Against the Machine to Outkast to Jurassic 5. Coachella was also the site where the notorious Tupac hologram made its debut.
Now, not to be a bummer, but we have to take this news with a grain of trepidation. GNR has cancelled tours before, so keep your eyes peeled for any rumblings over the next few months to make sure Guns is definitely performing.
