According to Variety, HBO announced the premiere date for the sixth season Game of Thrones earlier today at the Television Critics Association press tour. The newest season of the series will debut on April 24 of this year.
Last year’s season five ended on a bloody cliffhanger with Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) stabbed by the men of the Night’s Watch. Though little has been said about this upcoming season’s plot, the teaser trailer alluded to an answer for that heart wrenching scene.
Season six will also see the return of Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) and a one episode appearance of Ian McShane as an undisclosed character. Contrastingly, Max von Sydow will join the cast as the Three Eyed Raven as well as Freddie Stroma as Dickon Tarly, brother of Samwell Tarly (John Bradley.)
