Last night, TVLine revealed a Deadwood revival. The short lived HBO western series ran for 3 seasons from 2004 to 2006. Michael Lombardo, HBO programming president, confirmed a green light to resurrect the series as a film. Said Lombardo, “David [Milch] has our commitment that we are going to do it. He pitched what he thought generally the storyline would be — and knowing David, that could change. But it’s going to happen.”
Creator David Milch though, currently has another project in the works so the film may be a long ways off. However, the cast according to Lombardo “is unbelievably tight.” Deadwood, starring Timothy Olyphant, Ian McShane, and Brad Dourif, brought audiences the world of a violent South Dakota town and hopefully the movie will bring more of the same.
Lombardo believes Milch “has something left unsaid” and assures fans that as soon as Milch is finished with his current project he will turn all his attention on writing the Deadwood film.
