Kevin Smith is no hoser when it comes to making headlines.
It’s been one hell of a news week for Kevin Smith as his first clip for “Yoga Hosers” comes out and his new comedy series “Hollyweed” wraps up production and is being prepared for the near future to be sold to some major networks interested in its potential.
“Yoga Hosers” is the story about two 15-year-old convenience store workers, played by Harley Quinn Smith (Smith’s daughter) and Lily-Rose Depp (Johnny Depp’s daughter). The pair get invited to their first senior party, but their plans are disrupted when an ancient evil is unleashed on their Canadian hometown.
Smith chose to release the clip before the trailer, which is an interesting move on the director’s side, but it is well worth the wait by the sight of this clip. Smith’s quick wit humor is ever present in the clip, and shows us just how much his daughter and Depp’s can surely carry on their famous fathers legacies.
The clip is a short little sneak peak at Smith and Depp’s characters the Colleen’s working their job when a couple of hunks, with some parody style accents, come in and ask them to join a party, which as in every horror cliché never plays out well. But hey, they don’t want to be a bunch of hosers now!
In addition to this Smith news, Smith’s new show, which he wrote, directed, and acted in “Hollyweed” is about two potheads, played by Smith and Donnell Rawlings (“Chappelle’s Show”), who battle a neighboring cookie magnate played by Kristin Bauer van Straten (“True Blood”) and enlist the help of a charming porn star played by Frankie Shaw (“Mr. Robot”), to help them navigate the ups and downs of managing a small business in their quest for profits and the perfect bud.
While the show isn’t set to be released anytime soon do to the high demand and production of pot comedies and shows, the Smith show will be shipped around to different networks soon.
“Yoga Hosers” is premiering at Sundance this weekend, and while “Hollyweed” has no release date as of yet, keep an eye out for updates regarding this little stoner gem ya mooseheads.
