10. The Dark Knight Rises (2012) (Ann Hale)
Why I Love It: I always thought Batman was the superior super hero. He didn’t have any super powers, just the desire to help the people of Gotham to drive him. It certainly never hurt that he had billions of dollars to help along the way, but those are just billions of reasons for him to ignore the poor instead of saving them.
Growing up, I watched the Michael Keaton Batman films quite a bit and never thought any Batman film after could compare, but Christopher Nolan was able to change my mind with his truer-to-the-comics interpretations. Where The Dark Knight gave Gotham the hero they needed, The Dark Knight Rises returned to them the hero they deserved and, in the end, would continue to have a hero in someone who truly cared for the citizens.
The Dark Knight Rises introduced to the series one of my all time favorite Batman villains, Bane. I love that we got a back story to Bane, a physically challenging villain for Batman to fight and, finally, a Robin that is worth watching.
Favorite Line: “Oh, you think the darkness is your ally but you merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn’t see the light until I was already a man. By then it was nothing to me but blinding.” -Bane
Favorite Scene: My favorite scene in the film is when Bane arrives at Heinz Stadium after blowing up the field and half of The Steelers team. It is this moment that we see just how powerful and dedicated to his cause he really is.
