Reports from CinemaCon in Las Vegas have confirmed that a new standalone Batman film is in the works over at DC, with Ben Affleck returning to star and direct the film.
WB chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara stated at the con that there are 10 DC films in the works for the next five years, and that, “We’re excited to be working with Ben Affleck on a standalone Batman film.”
This confirmation, while at first had some in doubts whether or not this meant Affleck would act as director of the film, did indeed confirm that a Batman film was happening with him as the lead and soon.
Shortly after this news broke, Affleck was indeed confirmed to act as director.
This should serve as excellent news for the DC community being as Affleck is most certainly a skilled director, with Academy Award winning Argo under his belt, and he is sure to do the Batman film series justice with his own creative view.
Warner Bros. has unspecific DC movie dates set on October 5, 2018 and November 1, 2019, so it should be assumed that the new Batman film will most likely take one of these slots.
