PRESERVATION HALL JAZZ BAND WITH TANGIERS BLUES BAND AT THE STONE PONY IN ASBURY PARK, NEW JERSEY
The Jersey shore got a taste of New Orleans on Sunday, April 10th. Preservation Hall Jazz Band with Tangiers Blues Band at the Stone Pony could be ranked as the best night of live music in New Jersey for 2016.
The show treated the audience to hours of the kind of sound that speaks straight to your soul, played by true masters of their craft. Most importantly, every single musician on stage seemed to be thoroughly happy to be there. The audience rewarded them with dancing and smiles and plenty of cheers after each and every song.
Tangiers Blues Band took the stage first but were joined throughout by members of PHJB. The collaboration complimented their set and added a wonderful fullness to the sound. PHJB rocked through a set that included the title track of their latest release That’s It!. Famed rock photographer Danny Clinch of Tangiers Blues Band joined PHJB for “Tootie Ma.” “Lia Jane” and “St. James Infirmary” were played with Chris Thomas King. The band closed with a medley of “I Want You Back” and “Sir Duke.”
