First Trailer For Assassin’s Creed Unleashed
The trailer for the big screen adaptation of Ubisoft’s uber popular video game franchise, Assassin’s Creed was unleashed last night.
The film, scheduled for U.S. released on December 21, follows Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) who, through advances in modern technology provided by Abstergo Industries’ Sophia Rikkin (Marion Cotillard), is able to unlock his genetic memories.
The memories he unlocks is that of his ancestor, Aguilar, who roamed 15th Century Spain…as an assassin. Callum discovers Aguilar’s amazing physical and assassin abilities and channels them into himself in order to take on the Templar organization that is reeking havoc of modern society.
Outside of Oscar nominee Fassbender, and Oscar winner Cotillard, the film also stars Michael K. Williams (The Wire, Boardwalk Empire), Jeremy Irons (Die Hard 3), Brendan Gleeson (Harry Potter, Braveheart), Ariane Labed (The Lobster), and Callum Turner (The Green Room).
The film is directed by Justin Kurzel, who recently directed both Cotillard and Fassbender in Hamelt. The film was written by Bill Collage and Michael Cooper who collaborated on films like The Olsen Twins’ New York Minute, Ben Stiller’s Tower Heist, the YA sci-fi film Allegiant, and the Christian Bale bible epic Exodus: Of Gods and Kings. Michael Lesie, who collaborated with Kurzel on Hamlet, also wrote the film.
Assassin’s Creed is produced by New Regency, Ubisoft Motion Pictures, DMC Films and Kennedy/Marshall; co-financed by RatPac Entertainment and Alpha Pictures; and distributed by 20th Century Fox.
