King Arthur is not a new subject for the big screen. However, when you put visionary director Guy Ritchie behind the camera, you’re in store for a wild ride.
On Saturday at San Diego Comic Con, the trailer for Warner Bros’ King Arthur: Legend of the Sword dropped.
Guy Ritchie’s interpretation of the Arthurian legend has Arthur (Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam) as a street hustler/bad boy-esque character who pulls Excalibur from the stone. What happens after he pulls out the sword is a hallucinatory blend of 300, the Clive Owen version of King Arthur, and the greatest hits of Guy Ritchie’s visual work.
The film, set for release on March 24, will star Hunnam, Jude Law, Djimon Honsu, Eric Bana, Tom Wu, Annabelle Wallis, Katie McGrath, plus Game of Thrones alum Michael McElhatton, and Aiden Gillen, as well as David Beckham. Yes, THAT David Beckham.
