After nearly 15 years, the Minnesota-born pop punk/emo/alt rock outfit known as Motion City Soundtrack have called it a day. This tour, dubbed the “So Long, Farewell Tour,” will be their last. (Will be their last forever, we don’t know. However, for the foreseeable future — this is it).
We caught the band earlier this summer when they performed their final New York City show at Irving Plaza.
On Saturday August 6 the band came to the Garden State for one final performance. The Starland Ballroom, which has hosted the band on more than one occasion, was the spot they chose to say “So Long, Farewell” to the New Jersey. The band has played so many shows in this state — whether it be as an opener, as a part of the Warped Tour, as part of a Skate & Surf or Bamboozle, and as a headliner.
Opening up for Motion City Soundtrack was the female-fronted pop rock band from Maine, Tancred. Also opening was Brooklyn’s A Great Big Pile of Leaves, who have a strong New Jersey following.
Pop-Break.com and Deadbolt Photos’ Keeyahtay Lewis caught the band in action.
