Game of Thrones Adds Jim Broadbent to Season 7
There’s only two (shortened) seasons left of Game of Thrones but the seventh season of the series isn’t holding back with the high profile casting news. Jim Broadbent, aka Professor Slughorn of Harry Potter, will joining a very different kind of fantasy epic.
According to EW, the role is significant but fans shouldn’t expect an extended amount of screen time for the seasoned thespian. Having a pivotal role and a high-profile reputation doesn’t always guarantee being a series regular, especially for GoT. Altogether, Max Von Sydow who starred as the Three-Eyed Raven was only in three episodes and Ian McShane (whose announcement was highly anticipated for season 6) only appeared in one episode as Brother Ray.
Of course it is way too soon to know or even speculate Broadbent’s role in the upcoming season. And like most previous season casting announcements, show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are keeping any detail shrouded in secrecy.
Season 7 of Game of Thrones is due in 2017 and farther into the year compared to its usual spring premiere.
