The comic book family at The CW is about to get a little larger…
New footage for the CW show is showing fans what they can expect from their favorite comic books characters, and it appears to be a bit darker than predecessor may have described.
According to Comicbook.com, “Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa had this to say about Riverdale at San Diego Comic Con. “It’s definitely Archie, but a little darker, a little more complex and a little weirder than you might remember from the digest you bought at the supermarket. We’re saying it’s a little bit like Archie meets Twin Peaks.”
The official plot of the series is stated as a, “… live-action series offers a bold, subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring small-town life and the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome facade. The show will focus on the eternal love triangle of Archie Andrews, girl-next-door Betty Cooper, and rich socialite Veronica Lodge, and will include the entire cast of characters from the comic books—including Archie’s rival, Reggie Mantle, and his slacker best friend, Jughead Jones.”
The series is set to air in early 2017 on The CW.
