The Asbury Park Surf Music Festival announced their 2017 line-up yesterday, and it was one radically good line-up.
This year’s festival returns to the Anchor’s Bend and The Grand Arcade at Convention Hall on Saturday August 26. The festival starts at noon, and is a 21+ event — rain or shine. Part of the event will be on the North Beach bar of Anchor’s Bend, and in the event of rain it will be moved inside to Convention Hall.
The festival will be headlined by the phenomenal, and legendary instrumental surf and garage rock band Los Straitjackets. The Nashville-born lucha mask wearing band have gained a massive cult following with wild stage show, larger than life personas, and killer sound.
APSMF will also see the long-awaited reunion of The Great White Caps, a fantastic surf rock band who became famous for both their original tunes, and their famous Point Break Live! show. This show featured The Great White Caps performing the soundtrack to the classic 90s Keanu Reeves/Patrick Swayze action film.
Also appearing will be: The Aqualads out of North Carolina, the Canadian all-female surf band The Surfrajettes, the rockabilly outfit The Televisionaries (from Rochester, NY), The Reefriders out of California, and Philly’s Slowey & the Boats. Asbury’s favorite surf rockers Black Flamingos will round out the card along with DJ Hi-Tide and friends who’ll spin between sets, and during the after-party.
The fun of the Asbury Park Surf Music Festival is not contained to just one day though. The entire weekend will be filled with APSMF curated fun. Here’s what’s going on the rest of the weekend:
FRIDAY, AUGUST 25:
