You get it? Cause it’s Woody Harrelson and Andy Serkis. But also like Toy Story. Ahh whatever. I thought it was funny.
Seriously though, the new Of The Apes films are some of the most underrated action movies of the last ten years, and I hesitate to call them action movies because it is so hard to put them into one basket. Sure they feature a bunch of breathtaking battle sequences but what makes them unique are the small moments; the quiet and even often silent interactions between characters that raise the emotional stakes in a movie where the actual stakes are the most predetermined in cinema history. And all of those moments are made ever stronger by the criminally unOscared Andy Serkis giving a performance that honestly continues to trick me into thinking they actually taught an ape to talk. And oh yeah, the CGI is consistently groundbreaking. Top that all of with a heaping helping of Harrelson and you could very well have one of the great film trilogies that nobody knew to ask for.
