Supergirl is still adjusting to being a Kryptonian on a strange planet. Acting human is a bit more hard than expected. She is very happy to be greeted by her cousin, Kal-El, and to work together this issue. The entire issue is like a homecoming for Kara. And, it seems like this homecoming is much needed.
Kara is really homesick and keeps talking about how she is so happy Kal is there to speak in Kryptonian with her. So, a team-up with her cousin Superman is quite welcome. Emerald Empress is just straight up attacking her, and Kara is clueless as to why. Kal suggests that it’s something Kara does in the future. So we’ll have to wait to see what is going on in this part of the story line.
Supergirl also gets to have dinner with Jon, Lois, and Clark. It’s ridiculously adorable because Jon is asking her so many questions about Krypton and their relatives. I could tell while reading this that it really helped Kara to feel like she has a home on earth after all. Kara later learns that Kal has just overcome some crazy shenanigans from Mxyzptlk. This whole story is a set-up for what seems like a much bigger Superman and Supergirl team-up.
Batgirl can be seen briefly in this issue spying on Supergirl. She is oblivious Batgirl’s spying for sure. But, it looks like there could be a fight between them. I’m a little lost because they just teamed up in the Batgirl Annual and the story line was said to continue in issue 9 of Supergirl. Guess we have to wait and see where that is headed. There’s not a ton of action going on in this issue. Everything is just plot points leading up to a bigger story line. It’s still an interesting read, but it’s a little slow. I rate this issue:
