Grayson DeWolfe, a singer-songwriter from Minnesota has been creating a buzz all throughout the Midwest. DeWolfe has been making a name for himself and has built and maintained a loyal fan base during these past few years.

I’ve seen Grayson DeWolfe perform multiple times and he puts on an incredible show. He gives it everything he has on stage and pulls the audience right in and keeps them captivated during the entire performance. You can tell that he truly loves making music and sharing it with the world and that is something so special. Throughout the past few years, I have been able to watch Grayson grow as an artist, and I cannot even express how proud I am of him for releasing this EP. The world is in for quite the treat.

Here is a track-by-track review of Grayson DeWolfe’s Debut EP, Growing Pains:

“Growing Pains”
As the EP’s title track and opener, “Growing Pains” gets it done. This song’s upbeat sound sets the mood, and pulls you in, getting you ready to experience the rest of this kick-ass EP.

“Singing By Myself”
This track begins with an enjoyable instrumental intro and DeWolfe’s voice fading to the tune. When it all comes together, it creates an excellent sound, and you can’t help but listen to the entire thing.

When I listened to the lyrics of the track, the first line of the chorus caught my attention. The words are, “Singing by myself, with nobody else. Even if it’s lonely, in the end, I’m doing well.”

I really love these lyrics because they are so relatable. Yes, lyrically, DeWolfe is talking about singing and performing by himself, but if you dig a little deeper and think about it in a different perspective, you’ll realize that it has many interpretations. This song explores the feeling of loneliness, which affects everyone at some point in their lives, no matter if you’re single, in a relationship or living on your own. I genuinely believe that with those lyrics alone, every single person who listens to this song will be able to relate to it and that is something special.

“Karma”
This song was the second single released off of the EP and it bangs! It is such a catchy song and if you don’t add it to your “get pumped up” playlist, you’re missing out. You can’t help but snap along to the beat and start jumping around when it goes into the chorus with Dewolfe’s powerful vocals and catchy lyrics. Check out the music video below!

“Invisible”
After much thought, out of all seven tracks, “Invisible” is my favorite. It has a fun vibe to it, and it has short pauses, which I love. Also, toward the end of the song, the instruments cut out and you are left with just DeWolfe’s vocals for a bit, and it is so cool! It is one of those songs that brings a smile to your face each time you listen to it.

“Close”
This is the first slow song on the EP. DeWolfe’s vocals take over and bring you on a beautiful journey from the first note to the last. When I listened to the song for the first time, it made me wish I was slow dancing in an empty room because of its beautiful sound, but unfortunately, I was sitting in a crowded coffee shop. Maybe someday.

“Gone”
This track was the first single released off of the EP. Like the other songs, it has a catchy tune along with relatable lyrics. When this track was released, it gave the world a preview of what was to come for DeWolfe, which was exciting. It was a large part of what created the sense of anticipation for the EP. (This song alone has over 40,000 streams on Spotify.)

“Please Hurry Up”
I don’t think there could be a better song to end the EP with than, “Please Hurry Up.” While it’s the longest track on the EP, you’ll find that by the end, you don’t want it to stop. Out of all seven tracks, I feel that “Please Hurry Up” is the strongest song both lyrically and vocally. DeWolfe’s soft, yet powerful vocals along with the choir and string section pull you in from the first note, and it all has the power to bring you to tears, especially with the heart-tugging lyrics and sweet sound. You can truly hear the passion in DeWolfe’s voice and you’ll be able to feel how much this track means to him.

Grayson DeWolfe’s Debut EP, Growing Pains is a 10/10 in my book!
