Last issue we checked in on Rodimus and the crew of the Lost Light. Before, we saw the progress of mutinous Getaway and his crew. Now, we find our way back to my favorite IDW group of wayward Deceptions, the Scavengers.
Things don’t go well. From the backup tale a couple of issues ago, we saw the Scavengers run into Deathsaurus and his band going to battle against the Black Block Consortia who were engaged in battle with the Galactic Council. During the fray, one of Deathsaurus’ crew, a former member of the now-deceased Decepticon Justice Division wound up with the Scavengers. The return of a major villain and the resurrection of a long forgotten plot point from the early years of IDW (going back to Spotlights) tie up what is touted to be the Scavenger’s final journey.
I am really enjoying the side-stories and how IDW manages to have one link to another, whether in the present or at some point in the future. It reminds me of when I was younger, reading both the Marvel US and UK comics, and I attempted to come up with my own side-stories which would somehow relate to the bigger universes. I always wondered what the future of the UK universe would have looked like had Simon Furman continued.
I saw the preview for the next issue, and I feel like a kid again.
