What happens when Harley Quinn enters a post-apocalyptic world similar to Madmax? Well guys, you’re about to find out in Old Lady Harley.
Staten Island is in ruin, and barely habitated. Harley Quinn and Red Tool are fighting inbred goat people. That’s right, the descendants of Goat Boy. Apparently these creatures are ridiculously foul. They are always angry and turned on. Gross, right? They attack Harley by licking her eyeball.
Red Tool retaliates by shooting screwdrivers in a glorious but ridiculous fashion. And, lots of crazy plot points are revealed for future events with Red Tool here. Well, maybe, this could be an alternate timeline that never happens for all I know. But, let’s pretend its 100% canon for the time being. Want to know how many times Harley Quinn’s been married and to whom. You get that answer as well.
Harley and Red Tool eventually get into Brooklyn after some intense battles. And, she takes a walk down memory lane. Here we learn about the fate of some characters Harley was close to. She learns who is dead, and who is alive. Also, who stepped up when they needed to, and who tried to take over The Big Apple.
It’s not long before the group is attacked by mutants. I really want to tell you about the baddies in this issue in detail. But, there are too many spoilers if I do. I also don’t want to tell you about the battles for the same reason. So, let’s just say Harley and Red Tool somehow get their way into Coney Island.
Coney Island is the only place that doesn’t look like it’s been nuked. There are casinos and what appears to be brothels all over. It’s a thriving community. Gross community, but hey thriving. Harley and her party arrives at this huge arena in the center of it all.
The gang of Harley’s have been broken up ever since Harley left. Looks like a few members have died, and there have been additions. Now they’re battling it out to see who truly rules all of New York. Harley is sitting in the stands and after each member has been introduced she takes her place in the middle of the arena. Who will win? Who will be the new leader?
Ok so there were some really funny and creative baddies in this issue. There were also a ton of reveals for things that have yet to happen in Harley’s future. And, at the end of this issue we learn that on May 2nd we’ll get to travel back in time. The title of that story: Harley Loves Joker. Overall if you’re just looking for a funny and entertaining read pick up this issue.
