Avengers: Infinity War Delivers Epic Action, Devastating Consequences & Makes Good on 10 Years of Storytelling

Earth's Mightiest Heroes face their mightiest threat

Avengers: Infinity War Plot Summary:

Plot: When Thanos (Josh Brolin) works his way through the galaxy collecting the ultra powerful infinity stones in order to wipe out half of humanity, the Avengers are the only ones who can hopefully try to stop him.

I will remain as spoiler free as I can for this review. If you have any desire to see this movie whatsoever, I implore you to stay off social media until you finally view the film. The Russo Brothers (the directors of the film in question as well as Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War) issued several statements saying that this movie should not be ruined for anyone. I heeded their warning and I went as dark as I could on social media. I’m very glad that I did.

In any case, Avengers: Infinity War is the result of a decade of Marvel Cinematic Universe Films, bringing together all the most important characters we’ve seen since 2008 when the first Iron Man rolled onto the scene.

It is an ambitious film, no doubt, and one could wonder how Joe and Anthony Russo could pull off such a feat.

Well they did. They sure as hell did.

Not only does Avengers: Infinity War bring together some of the coolest dynamics that we can finally lay eyes on in this franchise, but it also gives us an excellent villain, some great cameos, and most importantly, consequences.

I’ve been saying for years that, while I love the MCU as a whole, nobody of major value bit the dust. However, in this movie, some lives were not spared. Was I happy about that? No, but yes. This movie has major balls, and I applaud the people who allowed this to happen. Infinity War has a lot of jokes, but compared to previous entries, I would say the humor is turned down a lot, and I think the biggest MCU critics will appreciate that.

In addition, the characters are portrayed better in this movie than their own movies. I won’t say who, but in all honesty, the film did a fantastic job of balancing screen time and showcasing the the strengths of every one in this movie. It may be a little bit easier to do when you have to juggle a lot of moving parts, but it’s clear that the Russo Brothers know how to handle this stuff, and they allowed everyone time to shine.

If I had to point out one flaw in this movie, it’s the CGI. Sometimes it looks fantastic, other times….not so much. I was able to let it go for the sake of the film, because what is here far outweighs that negative aspect.

What else can I say without spoiling? Not much.

Overall, the movie delivers the frigging goods, guys. The action is top notch, the “team ups” are glorious as all hell, and there is no doubt that this is the most creative and heartbreaking of all the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I just don’t have any more words to describe it- Avengers: Infinity War is phenomenal. 10 years of build up paid off. And then some.

Rating: 10/10
