Review: Optimus Prime #18

The Falling: Interlude

Feeling the wave of shock (see what I did there?) following last issue’s big reveal, issue #18 dives into how this is all possible. One long monologue from the mono-optic villain reveals all. Going back to Dark Cybertron and its horrifying conclusion, we find our antagonist thrown millions of years into the past.

The story unfolds how the Decepticon manages to essentially, write his own past, his own history, yet did not realize it was him until this point. Doctor Who and Star Trek fans might question the validity of this bout of time travel. However, since this is a comic, and time-travel is not something often explored in Transformers, let’s just take it at face value.

Well, not much else to report on this issue. Zama’s art remains on-task, the dark, twisted metal landscape and the ancient tale is felt with each panel.

Poor Optimus, did anyone ever think he would fall this far?

Optimus Prime #18 gets an 8 out of 10
