The Pop Break Live: Liam Gallagher & Richard Ashcroft at The Fillmore Philadelphia

Philadelphia experienced a taste of Oasis and The Verve last night.
Well, partly.
Two of Britains biggest former band frontrunners Liam Gallagher (Oasis, Beady Eye) and Richard Ashcroft (The Verve) performed on stage last night at The Fillmore in the City of Brotherly Love to a packed house of devoted fans.
Ashcroft confidently stormed the stage dressed in a sharp and shiny jacket that was made from thousands of “Swarovski diamonds” by his wife, Ashcroft joked. He performed solo, armed with only an acoustic guitar, featuring a number of Verve favorites including “Lucky Man,” “The Drugs Don’t Work,” “Space and Time,” and closing out his time with “Bitter Sweet Symphony.”
Ashcroft was noticeably chatty in between each song, talking about his love for Liam, his family, touring on the road, and even made it a point to address his love of Philly cheesesteaks.
It wasn’t long before Liam and his bandmates took the stage and gave the house what they waited for, no, not an Oasis reunion, but some of the legendary bands greatest hits such as “Morning Glory,” “Some Might Say,” as well as some features from Liam’s new album, As You Were. Gallagher did what he does best and rocked the house with his signature headbanging ballads and unforgettable raspy battle roar voice that sticks in your head like gum on a shoe.
The two led a swagger-filled, onslaught of amazing oldies and new classics as audiences cheered them late into the evening. Undoubtedly clamoring for a return of the power duo in the near, and if possible, immediate future.
