Philly’s rock station 93.3 WMMR hosted their annual MMR*B*Q at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden NJ on May 19th.
Since 2007, the show has served as the unofficial start of the summer concert season in the area. The show has packed in the crowds over the years with such acts as: Soundgarden, Rob Zombie, Evanescence, Godsmack, Halestorm, Shinedown and Cheap Trick.
This year, the station is celebrating its 50th Anniversary (it was founded in 1968), and it has done so by staying true to its rock format. To honor this milestone, the station is throwing a number of birthday shows this year…including a very, very special show announced during the MMRBQ. DJ Pierre Robert, one of the station’s top on-air personalities, was the one to break some very exclusive news to the crowd. The place went nuts when he announced that Metallica had added a fall Philly date to their North American tour. According to Robert, the band stated they were coming to Philly to celebrate the station’s 50th.
Anyways, back to the show. This year’s MMRBQ lineup included: Alice in Chains, Ghost, Stone Temple Pilots, Jonathan Davis(Korn),The Record Company, Dorothy, Radkey and Philly’s own In The Presence of Wolves
It was a great day of music and fans were treated to new music as five of the acts either had a recent release or a release that is expected over the summer. Props to the crowd as the weather wasn’t the greatest but you would have never known it as they seemed fired up from start to finish.
