As usual there will be spoilers from Issue #9 in this review. Please wait to read this review if you’re not caught up.
At the end of Issue #9 we learned how Sutter, Molly, and Graymercy’s stories intertwined. In a past life Graymercy was doing some detective work and followed Sutter in an underground cavern. Except he was in a different skin. Alban and Faith were able to locate Sutter and Wilhelm. The shocking part? I bet you expected Molly to be Faith. Well, you were wrong to assume that. Molly was actually the small boy, Wilhelm, who sacrificed himself for Sutter.
This issue picks up with Anton and the therapist diving into Molly’s past. Molly is under hypnosis after we found out she was previously Wilhelm. The therapist believes she needs to uncover Molly’s past in order to learn as much as she can about her present. Makes sense to me
While all this is going on we are getting glimpses into a new story with 2 new characters. Dara and Hal. Hal is leading Dara around a very dark and grim city. Dara is pregnant and seems like she is close to delivering. Hal keeps mentioning that the Valgeroti have eyes everywhere. And, it would seem that Dara’s baby is of interest to them.
As the two travel through a grim city we also see that back at the cult’s campgrounds Adrian is preparing to greet his adoring crowd. In case you forgot in the last issue Adrian kept going back and forth between himself and Sutter. Unfortunately Sutter won. Sutter is fully back and ready to address his followers. We also get glimpses of Sutter and Adrian in the past. It seems there’s a small glimmer of Adrian still inside.
The issue ends with us finding out a little bit more about Molly, Dara, and Hal. I don’t want to reveal too much, but I will tell you that you see a lot of Molly’s past lives. All of them have the same ending. I hope her current life has a different ending. When you read this issue you’ll get what I mean by that. I have been praising the character development in this series from the beginning. Regression continues its streak of strong story, amazing character development, utter creepiness, and mystery.
