Paramore Proves Why They’re Still our ‘Crushcrushcrush’ in Philly

Pop Break Live: Paramore, Foster the People at Festival Pier at Penns Landing in Philadelphia, PA

Not even an impending thunderstorm could stop the sheer awesomeness of Paramore’s performance at The Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing. The Philadelphia venue was the latest stop on the band’s After Laughter Tour supporting last year’s critically-acclaimed fifth studio album. They were joined by Foster The People and Soccer Mommy for a night filled with great music.

After a short weather delay, Foster The People took the stage with the name of their latest LP, “Sacred Hearts Club” hanging in the air in giant neon letters. They opened up their set with “Houdini” and “Don’t Stop (Color on the Walls)” off their 2010 breakthrough record, Torches. Mark Foster and co played hits and fan-favorites throughout their discography including “Pseudologia Fantastica” off 2014’s Supermodel, as well as their viral smash, “Pumped Up Kicks.” They closed out their 10-song set with their latest single, “Sit Next To Me,” which got the crowd all warmed up for Paramore.

Soon after Foster The People finished, the sun had set, and the crowd was ready for Paramore. They opened their set with the After Laughter track, “Grudges,” which had lead singer, Hayley Williams, commanding the entire stage with her unparalleled energy. The band played a massive 21-song setlist filled with hits like “Ain’t It Fun,” “Still Into You,” “Misery Business,” and “That’s What You Get,” as well as songs from their latest album including “Rose-Colored Boy,” “Forgiveness,” and lead single, “Hard Times.”

Halfway during their set, the band got together to play stripped down versions of songs which included a cover of “Passionfruit” by Drake. With a massive set-list, incredible stage design, and one of the industry’s most energetic lead singers, Paramore put the very definition of a summer concert.
