Ouroboros a Journey through Memory and Time is written, lettered, and illustrated by Michael Peckham.
The story wastes no time to throw the reader directly into action. We get to see a confrontation with some thugs and our main character is introduced, Gabriel. Our tale begins with Gabriel having no memory of anything. And, then with a helpful flashback we learn what led him to lose all memories.
Thanks to a scientist that simply goes by the name The Professor Gabriel can time travel. I imagine that it can’t be easy learning how to control time. We get to see first-hand what led Gabriel to The Professor’s path. And, what it takes to master time.
Even though Gabriel seems to have a wonderful gift, all gifts have a price. As mentioned previously, if Gabriel attempts to go backwards in time too much he gets terrible headaches. Then if he continues to push himself from there, he loses his memories. Gabriel is fully aware that memory loss can result from jumping too much. So, what could have possibly happened to make him even risk his memories?
I know some readers don’t enjoy time travel related tales because they feel like they’re having a hard time keeping track of spaces in time. Don’t worry about that at all in Ouroboros. Peckham does well to convey exactly where Gabriel is in his timeline. Readers won’t be scratching their heads wondering if Gabriel is in the past or present.
I am blown away by the amount of work that Michael Peckham threw into Ouroboros. In case you missed it Peckham not only wrote this tale, but illustrated and lettered it as well. His art is gritty in the best way and it works perfectly with the story. Peckham also does well to serve readers one hell of a story.
If you’re into time travel, action, and mystery you absolutely need to read this. Ouroboros is a trippy thrill ride through four dimensions.
