Pop Break Live: The Final House of Vans BK Show featuring Interpol
Interpol made a glorious and bittersweet return to New York on Friday as they celebrated the release of their sixth studio album, Marauder, while saying goodbye to the House of Vans Brooklyn.
Check out Pop Break’s review of Marauder.
Over the last eight years, the venue had become a staple of Greenpoint and of the NYC music scene with artists like Against Me!, The Rapture, Dum Dum Girls, Washed Out, Rise Against, Band of Horses, Pharrell Williams, Mac Demarco, Descendents, and Nas stopping by to play intimate sets. Shows at the House of Vans were truly unforgettable experiences for fans, and the last one ever was no different.
Interpol pulled out all the stops for the final House of Vans show, which also acted as their album release party. The band curated a visual art experience that took over the whole venue and included an installation where fans could get their picture taken in a recreation of the Marauder album cover (see this writers photo below). Gang Gang Dance and Honduras opened the show while fans were treated to free beer from Goose Island.
The crowd piled into the venue to watch as one of the biggest bands to come out of NYC made their way on to the stage to perform a mix of fresh new tracks from Marauder, classics, and deep cuts expanding their entire discography. After Interpol’s incredible set and as fans were leaving the venue, House of Vans employees handed out t-shirts celebrating the legacy of the venue and provided one last memory of the venue for attendees.
