Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride (2005)

Tim Burton’s clearly a master at creating horrifying creatures out of clay. But with his 2005 hit Corpse Bride, he brought out a more humanizing side with the Corpse Bride herself. With knot-filled hair, maggots that would pop out of her, and sunken eyes that gives a new meaning to a look that kills — the Corpse Bride is truly an iconic Burton character.

Giving her ice cold blue skin and an arm that is just bones definitely felt fresh and her love story with Johnny Depp’s Victor was excellently different. Not to mention, she is very unique to the genre with her actually having fully spoken lines by Helena Bonham Carter, Burton’s former partner, who gives the Corpse Bride a haunting yet elegant voice.
