From Romero to Overlord: A Visual History of Zombies in Film

Planet Terror (2007)

Planet Terror, the first half of the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez Grindhouse film, was designed to be reminiscent of drive-in movies complete with bloddy, disgusting zombie carnage that would churn audiences stomachs. The film’s zombies (Sickos) aren’t exactly the typical walking dead many have seen in movies their puss-filled boils and bloody scars are born through a chemical outbreak that turns civilians into flesh hungry zombies.

The survivors have little more to handle than usual, though, as these virus-infected Sickos can effectively wield and fire guns. Thankfully, though, the virus hasn’t made them fully immune to stabs or gun-shots to the chest ,so headshots aren’t required to take them . Guess it’s a good thing that Cherry Darling’s got her mini-gun leg and some sexy dance skills to cause some blood splattering carnage that no one would ever forget.

What’s even crazier is that even big-name actors, like Bruce Willis and Josh Brolin, take on a disgusting Sicko look of their own.
