From Romero to Overlord: A Visual History of Zombies in Film

Overlord (2018)

Now we are just a couple weeks away from the J.J. Abrams produced Overlord, a WWII zombie flick that promises to bring new life into the genre. From what we’ve seen so far, it looks like it could deliver as the zombies look horrifying, and the face of the smiling soldier with part of his mouth missing hasn’t escaped my mind since I’ve seen it.

Frankly, even if it doesn’t, the zombie horror genre isn’t going anywhere and I don’t think people want it to. Even with Romero’s passing back in 2017, the horror community can still feel his presence and will demand for the dead for rise from their graves. Not to mention, people still feel inspired by Romero’s work and will continue to reference it and pay homage to it for years to come.

So while Romero might be among the dead, his legacy will continue to thrive among the living.
