I’m not sure about you, but I have sure missed my Bettie Page fix. The Halloween special helped, and I was really excited to start Volume 2. Speaking of the Halloween issue, there’s a little bit of back story that happens there that you may want to read before picking up this first issue of Volume 2. Otherwise you’ll miss a reference at the beginning, but fear not. The rest of the issue follows along with everything we learned from volume 1.
So, let’s jump right into this exciting issue. We start off with getting news that Bettie is being called on for a special mission. Of course McKnight is waking her up in the middle of a highly interesting dream. He has the worst timing ever. But, it’s evident that Bettie is excited for the mission and accepts.
McKnight meets Bettie to give her the juicy details on their latest mission. The mission involves The Queen of England, and something similar to the ending of volume 1. Well, I don’t want to spoil it guys. But that’s right, Bettie is back in action with some highly advanced tech. She and McKnight must work closely with the Prime Minister in order to figure out some mysterious happenings with The Queen of England.
I don’t know about you but I love a story continuation. Especially something of this scale. Mysteries from Volume 1 are being touched on again. There’s action and thrills I didn’t expect, and that’s always a plus in my eyes.
It’s always fun when fiction meets history. Queen Elizabeth and Winston Churchill grace these pages to name a few historic figures. Avallone does a great job of blending science fiction with moments in history to tell one hell of a story.
