Lindsey Buckingham’s Solo Anthology Tour Has Crowds Dancing in the Aisles

Any list of the greatest guitarists of all-time is incomplete (or wrong) without Lindsey Buckingham’s name near the top.

The latest coverage of Buckingham is heavily saturated with stories of the current Fleetwood Mac tour, his lawsuit against the band, and the years of tumultuous relationships among the members.

But beyond the whirlwind of Fleetwood Mac, Buckingham has built a career of his own — releasing six solo studio albums and three live albums. The latest release from Buckingham is a career spanning solo anthology which brings together tracks from each of his studio albums along with two previously unrecorded songs. Buckingham’s tour celebrating this release made a stop at Collingwood’s Scottish Rite Auditorium in South Jersey (Collingswood to be exact).

Opening act J.S. Ondara played a short set of quiet folk songs that showcased his powerful voice and profound songwriting ability. His first album won’t be released until February 2019 but he will be an important artist to watch in the new year.

Then Lindsey Buckingham took the stage — one lacking any colorful banners or grand lighting rigs — allowing his playing to fill the stage. The twenty-one song set list rocked through a balanced mix of his solo material along with five Fleetwood Mac favorites.

The crowd was fully engaged in the material throughout the set, with most of the seated auditorium rising to their feet to dance before the night concluded. While Buckingham’s future with Fleetwood Mac seems uncertain, this will hopefully not be the last opportunity to see this masterful player take the stage.
