MGMT, Patti Smith First to Play The Newly Renovated & Re-Opened Webster Hall

Today is a good day.

Today BSE Global, The Bowery Presents and AEG Presents announced today that the iconic Webster Hall will re-open this spring.

The legendary music venue, which has operated as a venue since 1886, begins its new era on May 1 with a performance by Patti Smith and Her Band. Other artists announced fo 2019 include: Broken Social Scene, MGMT, Empire of the Sun, Old Dominion, Sharon Van Etten, Built to Spill, Real Estate, Chromeo with a Live Band, Big Thief, TroyBoi and more.

There will be more acts announced in the coming months, and according to a press release, the famed Girls & Boys club nights returns in September.

The club closed in August 2017 for renovations. According to a press release “the renovations at Webster Hall aimed to preserve the iconic features of the venue, while modernizing it to meet today’s entertainment standards and enhance the guest experience.”

The former Marlin Room has been renamed “The Lounge” and has been “revamped to serve as a bar and meeting spot for ticketholders both before and after shows in the Grand Ballroom.” The design of the space includes gold stenciling on the walls which pays homage to the original design. Fluted glass along the bar apparently mimics the venue’s former windows.

The original stage remains in The Grand Ballroom but the acoustics have been enhanced. Central air, expanded bathroom, additional stairwells (for entrances and exits), and an elevator (the first one in the venue’s history) have been added.

For those wondering, The Studio at Webster Hall (the venue’s basement venue) will return at a later date.

Tickets for all shows will go on sale Friday March 1 at 12 p.m. EST. Tickets can be found on the venue’s site.
