Pop Break Live: SXSW 2019 — Photos from Canada House, Mohawk House, Empire Garage, Pour Choice, and Edwin’s
Photos by Matt DiPaola
As it always does, SXSW proved to be a fertile crescent of music — with bands from all over the world playing in any venue they possibly could find.
On Wednesday March 13, our photographer caught the Dine Alone Records showcase at Canada House. This was the first year that different parts of Canada came together in one place to create Canada House at Bungalow on Rainey Street. By day, the cities of Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto promoted their welcoming cultures, global world view and their growing artificial intelligence, gaming, film & tv production and technology industries to the SXSW crowd. Performing at the showcase were Rich Aucoin, The Strumbellas, Wintersleep, and […And You will Know Us By the] Trail of the Dead.
We weren’t done shooting after that. You might have caught Matt Di Paola’s FLOODfest photos in between Canada House and FLOODFest he as running all around Austin to grab photos. He caught Black Pistol Fire at Empire Garage, Pip Blom at Edwin’s, Strand of Oaks at Pour Choice, and Deerhunter, Priests, and The Beths at Mohawk.
