Lois Lane is in deep. So deep she’s hiding away from her husband, Clark Kent a.k.a. Superman, only meeting him on occasion to check in that she’s still alive and working on something big. Which Superman is super (heh) understanding about. She’s uncovering secrets of an international conspiracy and making some very powerful people very angry in doing so.

One of my favorite things about Lois Lane is the way it approaches her relationship with Clark/Superman. In particular, that they are happily married and in love and still manage to pursue their own ambitions and seek justice in their respective ways. Crazy how easily that can be done. (*coughBatmanandCatwomancoughcough*)

Anyway, despite no one knowing Clark’s identity as Superman, she was photographed kissing him and is now the subject of controversy – being accused of cheating on her husband. Only the two of them and select few others (and we readers) know this is obviously not true because, well, they’re the same person.

However, she refuses to let Clark reveal his identity or try and explain away the situation to anyone. She refuses to let him save her. Even when she goes to have a private meeting that could be a set-up to kill her, she calls Reneè Montoya for back up instead of her literal superhero of a husband. I love that being married doesn’t change the way either of them do their jobs. I also love that Montoya is getting involved and has some light back on her since Victor Sage returned to being the Question.

The creative team has done an amazing job so far. They manage to keep up this intense feeling despite there not being a lot of action. I mean, Lois is a reporter. Yes, there is some violence and shooting, but this isn’t a series about someone physically fighting crime like we often see. It’s about fighting crime in a different way. Which is honestly, incredibly inspiring.

OVERALL SCORE: 9 / 10

Make sure you pick up Lois Lane #2 from your local comic shop!

Happy reading!
