Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe Brings The Groove to Asbury Lanes

Pop Break Live: Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe at The Asbury Lanes

Fat horns. Righteous grooves. A driving backbeat. Undeniable soul and energy.

It was a night of dancing for sure at The Asbury Lanes on Saturday night August 22, as Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe rolled through town.

The band is currently promoting their new record Gnomes & Badgers which came out earlier this year. The record was a very personal one for Denson. In a press release he said:

“As a writer and a human being, I’m affected by what goes on around me.” “I’ve always been interested in politics, and what I’m seeing now just disturbs me. I saw this idea of Gnomes & Badgers—which are the different people in the world, the different parties on the left and the right—as a great way to frame the political debate and the debate about listening to each other. Somebody needs to say something, and hopefully I can say it in a way that will make people reconsider how they think about things.”

Denson’s touring band was tight as hell and featured a few familiar faces on the jam scene including London Souls singer Tash Neal. Local favorites The Billy Walton Band opened the show up.
