Single Premiere: ‘It’s Good to Want Things’ by Annabel Lee

Pop Break is excited to premiere the new single from Annabel Lee, “It’s Good to Want Things.”

The single is driven by the powerful voice and lyrics of Lee while being bolstered by the thrashing guitar and gritty beats thumping in the background. Sonically speaking, “It’s Good to Want Things” has hints of Billie Eilish, smoky late ’90s electronica and the power of mid-to-late ’90s grunge a la Fiona Apple, and Alanis Morrisette. “It’s Good to Want Things” is uncompromising lyrically and musically, and it’s a definitive arrival statement from Lee.

When speaking about the song, Lee herself says, “This is simply a song about reveling in your own untouchable badness.”

The Massachusetts born and raised singer/songwriter began her career playing classical piano. However, while the classic built her musical fundamentals alternative and punk rock built her writing and performing style.

By the time she turned 16, Lee was performed regularly — touring and collaborating with the likes of Amanda Palmer (The Dresden Dolls) and Warren Cucurullo (Frank Zappa, Duran Duran). She also was a contestant on the NBC songwriting competition series Songland and was featuring on the August 28, 2019 episode. The episode featured Leona Lewis as the guest judge joining Ester Dean (who wrote hits for Rihanna and Katy Perry), OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, and country producer Shane McAnally (Luke Bryan, Kelly Clarkson).

‘It’s Good to Want Things’ by Annabel Lee is available on Spotify and Apple Music. Click here to add to your playlists.
