Pop Break Live: Alter Bridge, and Skillet Victorious Sky Tour with Dirty Honey at The Met in Philly.
Philadelphia was treated to a scorcher of a show when Alter Bridge, Skillet and Dirty Honey took over The Met in Philadelphia on September 25th for the Victorious Sky Tour. Skillet is touring in support of their critically acclaimed album Victorious, released in September. Alter Bridge’s newest album Walk the Sky (out in October) is one of the most anticipated albums of 2019.
LA band Dirty Honey is a band on the rise and has been turning heads since their self titled EP came out in March. This hot band, with their 70’s-80’s groove, has been getting a lot of airplay from local radio station WMMR so it was no surprise to see that many fans arrived early to check out their set. Their performance was really well-received, especially on songs like “When I’m Gone” and “Heartbreaker.”
Skillet, one of the most respected bands in the world of rock, treated the crowd to a great mix of new and old songs. Some set highlights were “Victorious,” and “Legendary,” two new awesome tunes from their recent release. They also played fan favorites “Feel Invincible” and an amped-up version of “The Resistance,” which only solidified that John Cooper is no doubt one of the best frontman in rock.
Alter Bridge’s performance was nothing short of spectacular. Vocalist/guitarist Myles Kennedy vocal range is just crazy. He has one of the greatest voices in rock. The sheer talent on that stage during their performance was mind blowing. Myles and fellow band members Mark Tremonti (guitar), Brian Marshall (bass) and drummer Scott Phillips (3/4 of the band Creed) have been playing together since 2004. Over the years they have all had side projects but have managed to produce a bunch of critically acclaimed albums together in between. Some highlights from their set were “Waters Rising,” “Metalingus,” and the epic anthem song “Blackbird” but it was some of their newer songs that stood out as well like “Wouldn’t You Rather” and “Take the Crown”. This is truly a band at the top of their game.
The Victorious Sky Tour was a real winner and was easily one of the best rock shows of 2019. For tickets to shows around the U.S., click here.
