Review: Morrissey & Interpol Bring Timeless Night of Alt Anthems to BB&T Pavilion

Pop Break Live: Morrissey & Interpol at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ

At 60-years-young, the former frontman of The Smiths has spent the last 30+ years of his career as a globe trotting solo artist and polarizing/controversial figure in the press. The punk/alternative icon has never afraid to speak his mind on a variety of topics including animal rights and, most recently, politics. Whatever your feelings are towards Moz, one thing is certainly true — the man knows how to put on a great show.

One of the few voices of his generation that have aged like fine wine, Morrissey can still deliver treasured anthems like “Alma Matters” and “Suedehead” as if they were recorded yesterday. His stage intoxicating presence and undeniable gravitas could be felt throughout each song of his impressive 22-song set, which was filled with hits from his time with The Smiths and his vast solo catalogue, as well as songs by artists like The Pretenders, Gary Puckett & the Union Gap, and Jobriath off his new covers album, California Son.

Together, Morrissey & Interpol provided an unforgettable night of timeless alternative classics to a late summer crowd at the BB&T Pavilion.
