The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 5 Plot Premise: “Supplies go missing from Hilltop; Negan is idolized by Brandon; Ezekiel holds a secret.”
After last week’s episode with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) escaping Alexandria, I was eager to see where he would end up heading to. Needless to say The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 5, ‘What it Always is’ didn’t disappoint!
We see Negan encounters a citizen from Alexandria, named Brandon (Blaine Kern III). He idolized Negan’s past, The Saviors, the fear he brought upon Alexandria, Hilltop, and the Kingdom. Brandon gave Negan presents, to try and impress him (Lucille and his leather jacket), but Negan doesn’t want to relive the old days. They encounter a mother and son in trouble with some walkers, and Negan saves them, and even mentions bringing them as close to the hilltop, but as he left to get firewood for the night, Brandon killed them, thinking that this was a test. Negan brutally kills Brandon and takes Lucille and his jacket, and heads to the Whisperers camp. I can’t wait to see how that shakes out for Negan. I wonder how close to the comics it will be for Negan and the Whisperers.
Meanwhile at Hilltop, Kelly (Angel Theory) is not back from hunting, so Darryl (Norman Reedus) and Connie (Lauren Ridloff) go out to search for her. There have been some supplies missing from Hilltop and Magna (Nadia Hilker) was suppose to be on watch over the supplies, but didn’t do it. Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura) questions why Magna is acting out all of a sudden now for some reason. Later during the search for Kelly, Darryl and Connie we see Magna our there. They find Kelly, and the missing supplies from Hilltop. Turns out both Kelly and Magna had an exit plan in case Hilltop were to fall apart.
Then finally on last night’s episode, Ezekiel (Khary Payton) reveals a secret he’s been keeping from everyone — he has thyroid cancer. Siddiq (Avi Nash) thinks that Ezekiel should tell Carol (Melissa McBride) this, but they haven’t really spoken to one another after they split.
I thought this episode was really great, my favorite of the season so far I’d say. Looking very forward to seeing more of Negan and the Whisperers next week!
