The Good Place (NBC – 2016-Present)
The Good Place on NBC is one of the funniest shows of the decade, with exciting plot twists, an incredible cast, and a story that will always keep you on your feet. The show stars Kristen Bell as Eleanor Shellstrop, a conceited girl from Arizona who learns ethics and changes her ways after she dies and is sent to “The Good Place.”
She’s far from the only interesting character as she forms friendships with an indecisive ethics professor Chidi (William Jackson Harper), a brilliant socialite Tahani (Jameela Jamil), and a lovable ditz named Jason (Manny Jacinto), and deals with demons from “The Bad Place.”
The show is full of surprises when you least expect it, and every single episode feels like a whole new adventure. The comedy honestly feels like a breath of fresh air in TV today. It stays updated with the political and cultural climate, and will make you actually laugh out loud at least once an episode. The concept is extremely different from anything on television right now, yet the characters feel relatable while never being boring or dull. The Good Place will constantly keep you guessing, make you feel every emotion as if you were living it, and may even make you want to be a better person.
It’s clear why it’s one of the best of the decade: it’s forking brilliant.
