Young Justice (Cartoon Network – 2010-2013,
DC Universe – Present)

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has become the most profitable and successful franchise in film history while movies based on DC Comics-related properties are more hit-or-miss-by-a-mile. In terms of animated series, however, blue has handily beaten red over the years and that tradition continues with Young Justice.

Brandon Vietti and Gargoyles creator, Greg Weisman, took the sidekicks and also-rans of the DC Universe and turned it into one of the greatest superhero series of all time.  Cast without legendary “go-to” voice director, Andrea Romano, they still managed to procure the talents of voice acting stalwarts like Nolan North, Kevin Michael Richardson, Alan Tudyk, and Tara Strong as well as more well-known names such as Danica McKellar and Rob Lowe to bring the characters to life.

The group of (mostly) super-powered adolescents navigated complex and mature plots that dealt with everything from unrequited crushes and sibling rivalry to murder, global conspiracies, and questions of what it truly means to be human.
