Kurt Braunohler to Headline Callin’ the Shots ‘Super Duper Bowl II’

Super Duper Bowl II

The New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams might not be headed back to the Super Bowl this year, but that’s not stopping our friends at the Callin’ the Shots Podcast from bringing their “Super Duper Bowl” party back to House of Independents in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

The sports-comedy podcast, created and hosted by Taylor Allen and Steve Arena, will be recorded live during the big game on February 2. Each quarter will be a new episode, recorded live, featuring a different set of comedians talking about the game (and mostly not talking about the game). We can assure you these guys made last year’s absolute slog of a game way more enjoyable.

This year the show will headlined by comedian Kurt Braunholer. The Jersey Shore native has been in films such as The Big Sick, and shows like Maria Bamford’s Lady Dynamite as well as a slew of national television commercials. He’s also the host of The K Ohle with Kurt Braunohler podcast.

Joining Braunohler at Super Duper Bowl II this year will be comedians Ariel Leaty, Gordon Baker-Bone, Kate Nichols, the Simmons and Moore podcast, as well as Mike Zapcic and Ming Chen formerly of AMC’s Comic Book Men. The official Callin’ the Shots mascot “Shotty The Party Crab” will also be in the house.

Pop Break will be represents as Angelo Gingerelli (who pens “NJ Next” our independent New Jersey hip hop column) and staff writer Melissa Jouben (who’ll be performing as a part of Warm Things along with Dan Gagliardi) will be on the show.

The soundtrack for the evening will be provided by The Karl Malones (comprised of some familiar faces) — who will be performing a number of covers.

There will be beer, food, games, and a ton of laughs throughout the event. Will there be a live version of the podcast’s ever popular “Cleveland Sports Corner” segment — we certainly hope so!

When asked about this podcast, CTS co-host, co-creator, and mustachioed philanthropist Taylor Allen said, “It’s gonna be fucking SWEET.” Allen would further comment on social media, “If you don’t come to this, you’re dead to me. Plain and simple. JK. But not really, please come.” [Followed by multiple praying hand emojis].

The show is sponsored by Asbury Park Brewery, which will proper representation at the show. Doors are at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets for Super Duper Bowl II are $12 in advance, and $15 at the door. Click here to purchase.
