Magfest, the music and gaming festival, is held annually at the Gaylord Convention Center in Maryland just outside of Washington, DC. Since 2002 it has been bringing together lovers of video games, gaming inspired music and gaming culture. The event runs for four jam-packed 24 hour days of activities and events attended by over twenty thousand gaming fanatics. Below are some of the highlights from Magfest 2020.
One of the coolest things at the fest is always the Magfest Museum of Gaming. Everything from early computer games to concept and first generation consoles are on display and many are playable for fans of nostalgic gaming days gone by.
Cosplay is another big part of gaming culture that is on full display at Magfest and we saw some amazing and talented cosplay throughout the weekend!
In addition to playing retro games at the museum everything from LAN play to console tournaments to indie games making their debut is available to play at Magfest. This includes arcade games both domestic and imports which are all on free play throughout the entire four days!
On the music side of things concerts are as big a part of Magfest as the games and this year was no exception. Everything from hallway performers to large concerts means music can be heard throughout the weekend. Some of the major performers this year were The Protomen, Tokyo Machine, Powerglove, and EyeQ.
One of the best things this year was seeing popular internet memes brought to life. Here are a few of our favorites.
