Red Bull Zeltron World Wide was unlike any show or performance I have ever been to. I thought I knew what it meant to have a hyped up crowd or dedicated performers, but Denzel Curry and JID’s energy was unlike anything I had ever seen. The show was brought to life in 2018 when Miami native Denzel Curry teamed up with Red Bull to create a new type of music experience. Using his alter-ego, Zeltron, Curry and Red Bull created the Red Bull Zeltron Event, in which Curry would compete against other rappers in a metaphorical wrestling match. This year, Zeltron is making its way into different US cities, making Curry’s hometown of Miami the second stop in the four city tour. The idea behind the show is to have different rappers compete against the Zeltron for the title of the best rapper.
With actual wrestling matches to open the show, the event maintains a high level of energy from start to finish. It’s unlike any concert in Miami. The show was meant to be a rap battle, so naturally the stage was a wrestling ring. The winner of the battle would be the rapper who gets the crowd the most hyped and involved, and just to be sure the audience maintains their energy, Red Bull passed out free cans in between sets.
Unlike typical concert set ups, these rappers jump into the crowds while performing and bring friends up to perform with them, making sure that the audience is as much a part of the show as the actual performers. Typically, that energy is maintained onstage, but at Zeltron, the energy made its way into the crowd. Between mosh-pits and a collective hype atmosphere, I can honestly say it was one of the most insane and one of my favorite concert experiences to date.”
