Fargo (FX 2014-Current)
Written by Tyler Zucker
With all the free time I have now, I finally have had the chance to finish the first season of FX’s Fargo. I only saw the first three episodes before quarantine, and now I finished one of the best single season stories I’ve seen with one of the most entertaining antagonists since Breaking Bad’s Gustavo Fring (Giancarlo Esposito).
Billy Bob Thornton’s Lorne Malvo steals every scene he’s in whether it be ruthlessly gunning down an entire office building or simply toying with the poor residents of the small town of Duluth or Bemidji. He does such an incredible job playing this ruthless, sociopathic character who is, nevertheless, undeniably charismatic that even though he’s dozens of lives, it’s hard to hate him.
Would I watch it again just for more Malvo? As any resident of Minnesota would say “Oh you betcha.”
Season 2, which is a prequel to Season 1, stars Kirsten Dunst, Ted Danson, Jesse Plemons, and Jean Smart.
Season 3 stars Ewan McGregor, Carrie Coon, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and David Thewlis.
Season 4, which stars Chris Rock and Jason Schwartzman, has been postponed due to production halt to due the COVID-19 virus.
Fargo Season 1, Season 2 and Season 3 is currently streaming on Hulu.
