Fake Doctors, Real Friends with Zach & Donald Review: A Perfect Pod for Scrubs Fans

By now you’ve certainly heard about the stellar Fake Doctors, Real Friends podcast. The is a love letter to one of the best shows of all time, Scrubs and is hosted by series stars Zach Braff (J.D.) and Donald Faison (Turk). The podcast is a beautiful amalgamation of nostalgia, trivia, watch-along, and lots of singing from Donald Faison — my favorite part of the show)

The theme song alone written and performed by the “Eagle-ing” duo themselves is worth the price of admission. (Yes, it’s free on IheartRadio Podcasts). It also gives fans a chance to ask questions about the show from the stars themselves. Braff and Faison’s report with the fans is great, but Fake Doctors, Real Friends offers so much more. In less than 10 episodes the show has already included appearances from Sarah Chalke (Elliot) , John C. McGinley (Dr. Cox), and show creator/writer Bill Lawrence.

The actors reminisce about the casting process, props, acting methods and more on the podcast. It’s not all about Scrubs, though. Braff and Faison also converse about real life, the time we are in right now, family and more. In short, this podcast has everything. The chemistry and “guy love” between these very real friends is undeniable and completely genuine. In fact in the middle of one episode Faison abruptly says, “I love you man. I really miss you.” This gives you all the feels just like any Scrubs episode. Hearing these two laugh together and talk about one of my favorite shows of all time makes me smile from ear to ear every time.

For anyone looking for just a little more Scrubs in their life, this is the perfect podcast and earns a rare 10 out of 10 from me.
