The She-Ra series finale ties together the entire story in a satisfying way, making this season the best yet and leaving fans fulfilled with all of the different avenues that were explored.

The season kicks off focusing on protagonist Adora (Aimee Carrero, Elena of Avalor) and her struggle to transform into the warrior She-Ra without her sword. We also get to see lovable Bow (Marcus Scribner, Black-ish) at her side and their journey to find their best friend Princess Glimmer (Karen Fukuhara, Suicide Squad), who is trapped on the ship with fan-favorite Catra (AJ Michalka, The Goldbergs) and the primary villain Horde Prime.

Though this show has been lighthearted, it has also consistently discussed darker themes like war and sacrifice, which are ideas that get fleshed out in this season. We get to see Adora struggle with her leadership role and the support her team gives her against an enemy seeking to conquer their world. Balancing the intense plot and the characters is something with which showrunner Noelle Stevenson has done a commendable job, and has executed it in a way that elevates the ’80s reboot into something completely fresh.

The best parts of the season would probably be the development of the characters and their relationships. From the start, the characters and relationships were easily the most compelling parts of the story. It’s easy to love them all, and this season allows each of them a moment to shine. We get to see the Princess Alliance of the Rebellion in the heat of battle, while also receiving comedic scenes with most of them like Perfuma, Mermista, and Scorpia. There are callbacks to many others we’ve seen, like Huntara, Madame Razz, Kyle, Rogelio, Lonnie, and more.

The main characters’ story arcs are also completed, which lets us understand them and their motivations throughout the whole story. The ending is extremely fulfilling in terms of the different relationships, leaving some things open-ended and closing some others off. It’s rewarding to see the end of the main characters’ journeys, and the way it’s done is so powerful it should be applauded. It’s rare to see a show conclude in such a satisfying way, but She-Ra accomplishes just that while answering many questions viewers have been asking for the show’s entire duration.

Another important aspect to mention is the incredible representation the show has advocated for throughout its run. This season is no different, as She-Ra proves itself as a pioneer for diversity. There is a wide-range of body types and personalities, and there are LGBTQ+ characters, nonbinary characters, characters with mental health struggles, and many notable characters of color.

This season has a great balance of fun moments, nostalgia, and world-building, all leading up to an epic end in which we see the characters get the ending some viewers might say they each deserve. It was extremely enjoyable to watch, and will keep you on the edge of your seat with every unpredictable, action-packed turn. I won’t give any major spoilers, but the overall conclusion feels like something the entire story has been working towards, which makes it all the more difficult to say goodbye.

The She-Ra Series Finale is now streaming on Netflix.
