All Elite Wrestling Video Game
Platform: TBD
Release Date: TBD
Wrestling video games have not had the best of luck in recent memory. Do we all remember the debacle that was WWE 2k20? Or how that TNA Wrestling game for the Wii? (Of course you don’t).
All Elite Wrestling, a new wrestling promotion that airs every Wednesday on TNT, has been promising fans a video game since its inception in 2019. It should be no surprise a video game would be at the forefront of their minds as one of the company’s EVP’s, Kenny Omega, is an avid and wildly popular gamer.
Fans have been chomping at the bit for a game for AEW given Kenny’s involvement, and many of us are hoping it adopts the game engine we saw employed in the iconic Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy video games on N64.
The question of the video game is literally brought up in every interview Omega, and his fellow Executive Vice Presidents Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson and Cody Rhodes do. Rhodes addressed this in April and made a statement, that the game development is going to take some time. And given the current pandemic this could take some time.
Given All Elite Wrestling’s insanely exciting style of wrestling (which many a detractor calls “video game wrestling”) this is the perfect company to have an old AKI-style wrestling game developed for.
