Sea Hear Now 2020 Reshceduled, Pearl Jam & Avett Brothers Remain as Headliners

Sea Hear Now 2020 has officially been rescheduled until September 18-19, 2021.

The announcement, which seemed inevitable given the current state of the pandemic in the United States, was made earlier today by festival organizers. They released this statement via press release:

“While we are disappointed to share this news, the health and safety of our fans, artists, partners, staff and the Asbury Park community remains our top priority. Our gratitude goes out to the fans who were looking forward to joining us on the beach this year, and we thank you all for your understanding and patience while we made this difficult, but necessary decision.”

While disappointing, there is some silver lining to this announcement. Festival headliners Pearl Jam and The Avett Brothers will remain intact as headliners for the rescheduled date next year. Billy Idol, Lord Huron, The Growlers, Dr. Dog, Ani DiFranco, Reignwolf, Dirty Heads, Grouplove, The Dirty Knobs with Mike Campell, Briston Maroney, Black Joe Lewis and the Honey Bears, Hirie, Liz Cooper and the Stampede along with Jersey bands Remember Jones, Jackson Pines, American Trappist and Black Flamingos will return.

Currently, based off press release and the new artwork, it looks like Phoebe Bridgers, Patti Smith and her Band, The Beach Boys, Gang of Youths, and Nahko and Medicine for the People will not be performing on the rescheduled date. However, more artists will be added to the show, so we’ll see about new lineup additions and/or any of these bands returning to the festival.

According to press release, all the surfers scheduled for this year’s festival will return in 2021.

For ticket holders, the festival stated the following:

“Hang on to your tickets, as all tickets for this year’s festival will be honored in 2021. Current ticketholders will receive an email from Front Gate Tickets later today, which will include information on how to receive a refund if you are unable to attend next year’s festival.

Our mission to celebrate live music, art, and surf culture is stronger than ever and we can’t wait to see you on the sand in 2021! General admission tickets are on sale now for Sea.Hear.Now 2021 at www.seahearnowfestival.com.”
